Critical Reflection

At the start of this effective communication module, my goal for this module is to improve my writing skills and public speaking skills. After these 13 weeks of effective communication, I feel that I have reached my goals as I was able to complete the tasks and assignments and had the opportunity to do a presentation to my peers and professor twice for the project proposal in front of the entire class. I also get to review my peers’ presentations. Therefore, I have gained a lot from this effective communication module. All along, the thought of doing a presentation has made me nervous as I’m not very confident with my public speaking skills. However, with preparation and practice before the presentation, I was able to deliver my presentation. I could improve in the area of having eye contact with the audience while presenting. After presenting in front of my effective communication module’s classmates twice, I would say that I can deliver a presentation with less nervousness. I had ma

Nissan Motor Corporation (2007). Concept Car To Showcase Anti Drunk-Driving Technology. Retrieved from  https://global.nissannews.com/en/releases/release-95e86dba49c0e8277e3c7b662e6aac68-070803-02-e   In this article, Nissan Motor Corporation (2007) focuses on the new concept car that has many preventative features designed to assist in reducing drunk driving. The features that are implemented are Alcohol Odor Sensors, Facial Recognition System, and Driving Behavior. The alcohol odor sensor is built into the shift knob of the car and into the passenger seat sensor, which can detect the presence of alcohol in the perspiration of the driver’s palm or in the air as he starts to drive. When alcohol is detected, the car navigation system issues a voice alert and a message alert on the navigation system monitor.   For the facial recognition system, a camera is mounted on the instrument cluster facing the driver to monitor the driver’s face. The system is calibrated to monitor the dri

Subject: Self-Introduction letter Dear Prof Blackstone My name is Carely Ang Wee Wee, I graduated from Republic Polytechnic in the Diploma of Green Building Energy Management. I gained an interest in the built environment sector while studying my Diploma in Republic Polytechnic. I decided to further my studies in the Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering (Building Services) programme offered by Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). I am fascinated by the sustainable infrastructure in Singapore like Marina Barrage, Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay. I am intrigued by the different ideas that people have thought of, implemented and the recommendations given to contribute to conserving the environment. For ways to be sustainable in my daily life, I can reuse a tote bag instead of using a plastic bag, using a metal straw instead of a plastic straw and reducing plastic wastage and making sure that I finish my food so as to not waste food. My strength in communication is acti

Explanation on Quote

"Developing excellent communication skills is absolutely essential to effective leadership. The leader must be able to share knowledge and ideas to transmit a sense of urgency and enthusiasm to others. If a leader can't get a message across clearly and motivate others to act on it, then having a message doesn't even matter." Gilbert Amelio, President and CEO of National Semiconductor Corp Based on this quote, excellent communication is a way of delivering the message to a given audience. When the leader can communicate the message effectively to the audience, motivating them to act on the given message, the leader has impacted the audience.
